CONTENT OF BALTO OFF-ROAD KIT

A 2 rods with fabric tie-straps
B1 main frame with 2 brackets and an X-shaped harness
C 1 wheel kit (frame and rubber wheels)
D 1 support handle
E 2 support straps for rear legs with 2 Velcro stoppers
F screws, washers, self-locking nuts, 1 adjustable wrench, 1 allen key

PHASE 1 – BALTO OFF-ROAD’S MAIN FRAME ASSEMBLY
The main frame is composed of two separate gray brackets.
Overlap the brackets to create the trolley structure. Position the slotted bracket on top of the perforated one and secure them together using the supplied screws.
Please use 2 screws for size S and 3 screws for size M and L.
IMPORTANT:check that the pre-mounted straps form an X-shaped harness inside the frame.

PHASE 2 – HOW TO INSTALL THE WHEEL KIT ON THE MAIN FRAME

The wheel kit has two slotted “wheel brackets” and a width-adjustable front bracket (with stabilizing and anti-widening functions).
IMPORTANT: before installing the wheel kit to the frame, please adjust the anti-widening bracket’s width by unscrewing and tightening the nuts with the supplied wrench.

When joining the wheel kit to the frame, face the anti-widening bracket towards the inside of the trolley, leaving space in the back for the dog’s legs. Place the wheel kit’s blue brackets on top of the main frame’s gray brackets.

Finally, you can secure the brackets using the supplied screws: please use 2 screws on each side for size S, 3 screws on each side for size M, and 4 screws on each side for size L.
IMPORTANT: make sure that the blue slotted brackets are positioned externally
to the gray frame.

IMPORTANT: please regulate the anti-widening bracket’s width so that, on each side, the trolley is at least 2 cm wider at the wheels’ base than at the top of the frame.
This configuration ensures more excellent stability.

PHASE 3 – BALTO-ENGRAVED SIDE BRACKETS INSTALLATION

To complete the trolley’s front part, stack the blue slotted brackets (with the BALTO logo) on the perforated gray frame (fig. 1) and secure them using the supplied screws. At least 2 screws on each side for size S and 3 screws on each side for size M or L are needed.
BALTO
lettering should be legible from left to right, and it should appear in the front of the trolley (fig. 2).

IMPORTANT: Balto Off-Road is fully adjustable in width, height, and length.
After adjusting the brace according to your dog’s size, you can fasten the self-locking nuts.
For secure fastening, hold the screw with the Allen key while tightening the nut with the other hand using the supplied wrench (fig. 3).

PHASE 4 – REAR LEGS SUPPORTING STRAPS

A. Put one of the two supplied straps inside the frame (fig. 4) by inserting the Velcro-clamped tip through the flat ring (fig.5). Pull the strap until completely tight, ensuring that the flat ring is on the frame’s inner side (fig. 6).

Then, apply the Velcro stopper on the strap (fig.7), in the exact position of the frame’s outer side, and fasten the strap (fig. 8). At this point, with the same strap,
form a large ring by attaching the Velcro clamps to the upper end (fig. 9).

PHASE 5 – ADJUSTING THE FABRIC TIE-STRAPS
Balto Off-Road has three supporting tie-straps, each with a specific function, wrapped with soft, breathable padding:

  • a front tie-strap (1) prevents the trolley from sliding towards the rear legs
  • an upper tie-strap at withers’ height (2) stabilizes the trolley
  • a tie-strap for the underarm/brisket area (3)

Each tie-strap is adjustable in length to provide a perfect fit for your dog.
To shorten it, remove the protective pads, grab the end, and detach the removable Velcro clamp. Accurately shorten each tie-strap by cutting the excess material, and finally reapply the Velcro clamp.

In the back, there is an adjustable X-shaped harness that assures comfort during support. To adjust it, first, remove the Velcro padding, then extend or tighten the straps using
the plastic double belt loop, according to your dog’s size and specific needs.

Detach the Velcro clamp, cut the strap’s excess length with scissors, and reposition the Velcro clamp.

Warning: be careful not to cut the ends too much. Make sure you leave enough space for the Velcro to close.

PHASE 6 – PUTTING YOUR DOG INSIDE THE WHEELCHAIR

Continue by opening the upper tie-strap at withers’ level: remove the padding (fig. 10), open one of the two ends, detach the clamp (fig. 11), then pull out the strap from the aluminum loop (fig. 12).

After pulling out the upper tie-strap at withers’ level, put the dog into the trolley.
IMPORTANT:place the X-shaped harness correctly on the dog’s inner thigh back area (1) and not on the belly (2).

After putting in the dog, check that the front blue rod’s BALTO incision is positioned at the dog’s center-shoulder height (without exceeding it).

Once the blue rod has been placed correctly on the center-shoulder, reinsert the withers’ tie-strap and fasten it(1). Then, put the padding back (2).

Adjust all straps making sure to close them tightly. Finally, put the rear legs inside the supporting straps (3).
The trolley will be in the correct position when all the rods align with the dog’s transverse plane (4). For further adjustment of the brace, please use the Velcro straps.

If needed, screw the upper support handle on the rods.

RECOMMENDED USE

  • All screws come with self-locking nuts. After adjusting the wheelchair, remember to tighten the nuts fully.
  • The anti-widening length-extending rod can be rotated by 180 degrees to allow rear legs’ movement, such as during rehabilitation.
  • It is recommended to check that screws and nuts are securely tightened regularly.
  • Do not use electric screwdrivers or any other tightening tools other than the supplied wrenches.
  • The soft components can be hand washed in cold water with neutral soap; do not machine wash.
  • It is advisable to get accustomed to the wheelchair. We suggest keeping your dog on a leash or harness, in the beginning to guide their movements and help them gain confidence. The dog will feel the weight redistributed and discharged to the ground with your help, gradually becoming familiar with the wheelchair.
  • We recommend using Balto Off-Road for a few hours per day, during walks, and when the dog can freely move around the house or outdoors.
Do not leave the wheelchair on at night or during rest hours.
